  • The aim of the study was to validate the quality of life scale MELASQOL the Spanish language in a group of Colombian women with melasma. Study sample corresponded to 80 patients who attended the consultation of medical aesthetics of the IPS Quinta de Mutis of Rosario University, for introducing melasma, were asked to participate and phone location data to apply the scale translated into Spanish language (MELASQOL-t) through the guide QoLMs (guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation of health-related), to validation of scales proposed by the WHO, in a second telephone contact. Once the telephone response to the scale of all patients were processed for data validation through statistical analysis, within the parameters of internal consistency, criterion validity and reproducibility. Only a small proportion (n = 10) of the sample was made a third telephone contact with statistics goals. Average age for the study group determined to be 40 ± 12 years, the socioeconomic status of most frequently was the three (3), with wider distribution in the educational level completed university studies, was obtained for the validation criteria the following: internal consistency with Cronbachs a = 0.88, validity with rs = 0.70, p <0.001 and reproducibility with intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.959 (95% CI: 0.986, p <0.001). The main conclusion that the scale was translated into Spanish MELASQOL validated under proper criteria, obtaining good indicator of quality of life in the group of Colombian women with melasma studied.
