The sector study applied to a Public Health Care Institution (E.S.E. for its Spanish initials) in the city of Bogota, was developed through the application of the structural analysis methodology in strategic sectors to determine the degree of overcrowding in which currently it is, founding the opportunities that have not yet been exploited, knowing the level of attractiveness of the sector and identifying the behavior of competitors to finally characterize the strategic sector in terms of the elements that determine their behavior. As a result of the tests there were shown four elements which determine the performance of the sector: the absence of entry barriers themselves, the existence of assumptions that limit the decision-making, the existence of strategic convergence and the erosion of the strategy and the productivity. These findings allowed the research team to make contributions in order to generate strategic thinking to the E.S.E., to enlarge the picture and implement conceptual innovation towards differentiating behaviors that seek to improve the value chain.
