abstract

  • The Colombian textile sector is recognized for its important role in the development of the country's economy, it is one of the oldest industries and over the years it has managed to contribute greatly to the Colombian GDP. In addition, it has contributed to the generation of employment, the development and creation of different companies that are icons and represent the sustenance and history of an economic activity and different traditions. However, it is also a sector recognized for its various ups and downs throughout history, the volatility in which it has always been found has not allowed it to position itself or compete internationally in the way it should. This can be due to different reasons, among these are external factors such as smuggling, dumping and piracy. In turn, government decisions that initially focus on establishing international relations that contribute to the development of industries under conditions that on many occasions for the country are difficult to cover and highlight the low competitiveness of the industry. The present work seeks to effectively present the various moments that the industry has gone through and its influence on the country's GDP. Likewise, It present an analysis of how it has been affected and the different results that it has brought economic openness and the different international alliances currently in force.
