  • The aim of this study was to determine the perception about safety and health of workers from Oil and Gas sector in the Region of Casanare, Colombia 2016. For this purpose, NOSAQ-50 Questionnaire was applied. It consists of 50 items across seven dimensions, 50 workers from the areas of mechanical and automated processes participated in the study. Socio demographic variables: age, year of birth, sex, work area, type of position within the company and occupational variables were analyzed within the 7 dimensions. Almost all participants were male (76%), and the average age was 32.36 years, 52% work in the mechanical area, 48% in the automated area. Descriptive statistics and inter-correlations between the seven safety climate scales were performed. Results showed positive perceptions of safety for all dimensions between which the result of the dimension 6 and 7 is highlighted with the highest perception wit 98% good perception, except for dimension 5 with 94% bad perception. No significant association was found between socio demographic variables and all 7 dimensions. There was Statistical significance association between sex and area (Pr = 0,016), and year of birth and area (Pr =0.022); The results obtained in the present study make a contribution relating to the knowledge about the studied dimensions and determining the possible improvements that can be made through action plans in order to improve the perceptions of the workers within the organization. Occupational safety and health programs can be developed that respond effectively to the job hazards detected. This study is not only fundamental to improve the individuals perception of safety in the company, but also to prevent the beginning of occupational diseases, and to have a global vision of the perception about safety and health at work from other Oil and Gas companies from Casanare.
