abstract

  • The Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) processes has been a central theme in the public agenda and the way that the media presents us different protagonists in the conflict, has brought us to them and to the reality of this phenomenon from a particular point of view. In this paper is analyzed the discursive representation built by the newspaper El Tiempo about DDR process and its main actors, the demobilized, in Bogota between 2005 and 2010; throughout the text is reflected the influence of the media discourse in the way that society might see and respond to that social group which looks for reintegration to the civil life. The work is done through a discourse analysis, in this case, the journalistic discourse issued by the newspaper El Tiempo and elements of the theory of moral panic. The constant and growing influx of demobilized to the capital city led to a handling trough different politics and media discourse;therefore the newspaper discourse is contrasted with local demobilized care policy, specifically the program Programa de atención al proceso de desmovilización y reintegración en Bogotá (PAPDRB), in order to differentiate the treatment, that they gave to the phenomen.
