abstract

  • Introduction: demographic, social and even occupational factors has been studied and been described in the populations where the presence of melanoma, in the population of airplane pilots, cabin crew and similars, has been shown that this cancer has a significant presentation. Objective: describe the studies reported in the scientific literature about prevalence and factors associated with the presence of melanoma in airplane pilots. Methodology: a systematic review of the literature of analytical or observational studies was carried out, were the prevalence of melanoma in airplane pilots were evaluated, using the data bases PubMed, ScienceDirect, SciELO and science web pages (Google Scholar). Selecting articles in English and Spanish from 2013 to 2019. Results: it was evident that the presence of melanoma is high in crew members, (OR 1.29 to 3.31) the more flight hours, the more the risk of presentation increases (more of 5000 hours accumulated: OR 1.9, exceed 11000 hours: OR 2.4), the history of cancer does not influence the predisposition to melanoma, while burns at an early age do (more than 71.8% of cases).
