abstract

  • This paper aims to show the application of communities of practice as a community strategy in an organizational context, taking into account the evolution of the concept and its particularities through a systematic review of the literature. The objective of the study is based on determining the main characteristics of a community of practice and its most outstanding benefits in organizations. During the development of the review, different positions are found regarding an outstanding characteristic of the communities, the self-emergence, which proves to be flexible to the context; in the same way, through the study of applied cases, the benefits of the application of communities of practice in different industries and areas of the organization are demonstrated. Finally, it is concluded that communities of practice represent an opportunity for companies to integrate with local communities by having the flexibility to be designed and created in a specific space.
