Through this document it is proposed to demonstrate that the Colombian legal system recognizes the existence of electronic securities, since they have the same legal nature as paper securities, the traditional principles of this legal institution being applicable. Despite the above, there are regulatory gaps that have hindered its development and implementation in practice, and it is necessary to have rules that allow its proper use.
