This document aims to analyze the effects of the digital transformation on Colombian companies. The digital transformation implies an adaptation on the part of the company; this adaptation implies challenges to incorporate technology in the processes and in all the elements of the companies. The digital transformation (TD) has proven to be a necessary link in the company's business plan, as it shows an increase in operational efficiency and is a source of competitive advantage. Processes are automated, allowing the orientation of human talent to more strategic functions. A company can join a digital transformation model, partially or totally, this depends on the resources it has and the results it expects from the implementation of this process. Having technological tools and starting to be part of the companies in the process of TD are aimed at reducing costs, increasing their capabilities, automating their processes, among others. All these plans are oriented to the continuous improvement of the company's processes, that is why carrying out these processes changes the way employees operate, to an improvement in their competitiveness.
