abstract

  • The Colombian government, in the 1960s, aimed at boosting economic growth and thus ensuring the well-being of its population, sought to reduce or eliminate trade restrictions between its major trading partners and Colombia. Therefore, agreements such as CAN, MERCOSUR, trade agreement between the European Union, Colombia and Peru and between them the FTA with the United States were signed. The research arises from the need to discover and understand commercial export opportunities for Colombia with its main trading partner, United States, and it will be necessary, after five years of the entry into force of the free trade agreement, to evaluate its background, the results and the advantages and / or disadvantages that it has had for our country, for which figures of the trade balance between the years 2012 to 2016 will be presented. Based on this, the approach will be in the state of Alaska, where state indicators will be presented and will guide the knowledge of its current situation. Also, from an analysis of its imports we shall obtain a greater understanding of the products demand that our country is able to supply. Colombia's exports will be analyzed, with the objective of identifying the economic sectors with the greatest growth opportunity, both for exports to the different countries of the world as well as the United States and finally to Alaska.
