The Unión Patriótica is a political party that was born in Colombia as a result of the Acuerdos de La Uribe, a negotiation process between the colombian government and the FARC guerrillas during the 1980s. The UP was victimo of costant attack and smear campaings that led to its disappearance from the political field. This work seeks to identify the elements that built public opinión around the Unión Patriotica through the analysis of the discourse in the newspapers El Tiempo and VOZ, between 1989 and 1994.
