abstract

  • Informal settlements and territories are usually those with the greatest needs in public space and recreational services, but at the same time, they are the most prioritized by the district entities. This intervention has enabled the encounter between leaders, participants and external agents, which has given a way to a community transformation of urban space through artistic, cultural, environmental and sports practices. By means of a qualitative methodology, this article presents an approach to the way in which El Parche –and due to Habitando: cultura en comunidad– have built, inhabited and transformed the urban space of two neighborhoods of Ciudad Bolívar in Bogotá. In addition, it shows the way in which this group adapts to the challenges that arise, taking into account that this space suffered a tragedy of mass removal in the nineties and the effects of being cataloged as a place of fear and insecurity by the residents of the sector.
