abstract

  • Introduction: The goal of rehabilitation in neurological patients is to reduce disability, potentiate their functionality and promote independence and enable it to play an active role in the community . For this reason it is very important to prevent the occurrence of adverse events in this population by early detection of risk factors that lead to patients with cerebrovascular disease at present falls and in turn allow health professionals to develop strategies minimize their incidence , complications and / or sequelae . Objective: To determine the factors associated with the altered center of gravity and fall risk in patients with neurological disorders Methodology : A retrospective descriptive exploratory quantitative study where diagnosis of neurological disease patients who had no history of falls or were considered held together other inclusion and exclusion criteria , taken from the databases of the institution Mobility Group . Results: We evaluated a total of 19 subjects (52.6 % male ) with a mean age of 48.37 years . They were classified into two groups ( high and low risk of falling) of patients by applying the scale of risk of falling JH Downton to which descriptive statistics were applied to describe their behavior with reference to factors such as clinical diagnosis , presence of pain , strength and tone of the lower limbs in the major muscle groups , classification of spasticity and finally altering the trajectory of the center of severity as assessed on the THERA - BALANCE TRAINER device.
