  • The buying and selling of goods and services online has grown in Colombia and Latin America thanks to the trust of consumers and suppliers. In international markets, electronic commerce is developed through processes of adoption, motivation and consumer loyalty to compete with international companies. Colombian legislation contemplates commerce through electronic means and information services over the Internet, allowing the linking of different legal regulations to this area of business. Society needs the legislator to regulate electronic commerce to guarantee competition and security. In Colombia, Law 527 of 1999 regulated electronic commerce and established the legal regime for electronic signatures.
