  • Introduction: The ischemic placental disease composed of preeclampsia, FGR and placental abruption lead to important maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. For that reason, diagnostic tools and sonographic predictors to diagnosis these entities are a must to apply an early diagnosis and treatment. Jelly like placenta is an uncommon sonographic finding related with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Methodology: Descriptive study type of case series with patients of perinatology service of Centro Policlinico del Olaya. Those ultrasound studies showed a jelly like placenta. A follow up of the pregnancy was done and the maternal and neonatal outcomes were assesed. Outcome: 50 patients were taken as a sample for the study, from July 19 th to July 21th.The 16% of neonates show low weight, the 26% of patients got hypertensive disorders in pregnancy. None of the newborns presented genetic alterations The newborn mortality was 2% due to placental abruption. Conclusion: The Jelly like placenta is a not well known untrasound finding. There are very few descriptive cases about it.Neverhteless, this finding can be related to hypertensitive disorders in pregnancy, such as fetal growth restrictions. Early diagnosis allows close follow up for the diagnosis of the ischemic placental disease and thereby reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity.
