  • The signing of free trade agreements has become an influence for the development of the investigations that allow establishing and evidencing opportunities that lead the increase of the trade balance, which generates a series of challenges for the companies, belonging to the local market, in the foreign markets for the export of products and services beyond the raw materials, and the importation of certain goods for the specialization and optimization in the operational processes. The study of the background of the FTA between Colombia and USA is fundamental to begin the process of the diagnosis of the project, so as to identify the impact that it has had trough the time this agreement and the influence of the behavior of this current trade relationship on the economic sectors in Colombia.It is necessary to identify the opportunities of the SME’s in Colombia, especially in the exports to the states of Maryland and Massachusetts, and determinate the demand that may be supplied by the SME’s of Colombia, based on the current imports that being generated from the whole world, taking as reference quantified and updated data from Wiser and Trademap, a foreign trade databases.
