  • Introduction: Health institutions in their goals consider high quality service to patients, through different strategies that promote safety throughout the attention process; tools like Surgical Safety Checklist promote safety in the surgical care process. Use of this strategy by health professionals, should be promoted and evaluated continuously to reinforce Safety Culture, which impacts cross so the user's attention. Objective: Todetermine the impact of Surgical Safety Checklist implementation on the Safety Culture Survey qualification in the operating room at a level IV accredited health institution in Bogotá. Methodology: An intervention study for measuring and comparing the qualification of the Safety Culture Survey before and after the implementation of Surgical Safety Checklist was carried out in the operating room of the study Institution. Results: The survey received an overall score of 66.1% in the first measurement and 64% after the intervention (p <0.001), significant differences were found between the first and second measurement. There were not significant differences according to survey dimensions and specialty/area of work. Conclusions: The implementation of strategies aimed at strengthening Patient Safety, can modify safety perception of health professionals in the care process. Interventions as well as measurements should be done more frequently for success long term outcomes.
