abstract

  • This paper aims to capture the importance and relevance of development management in the transport sector, especially cargo. Through a study of cargo consolidation in Colombia, its importance, the elements that affect it, and the different strategies based on strategic cargo handling alliances between peer organizations; in order to minimize the cost of freight, through the incorporation of information systems for the optimization of freight transport prices. In the development of the investigation, secondary sources of information about the study were reviewed. The results of the study indicate the need to analyze the costs incurred when providing national freight services. They are oriented to the lack or deficiency of the optimal infrastructure with what they have to do with the national road network, the increasing price of gasoline, and the lack of clear policies regarding the cost of routes, with the deficiency of a transport cargo consolidation model. From this study, the factors that affect the transport sector that allow managing an alliance strategy with other institutions and/or organizations to optimize logistics processes were obtained.
