  • The purpose of this article is to expose the importance of the study of port logistics in the Colombian Caribbean as an essential element for the competitiveness of international trade, based on the evolution that has transformed the sector and the analysis of logistics performance at present, detailing the general deficiencies that afflict the sector to subsequently contextualize the panorama of the ports of Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta in terms of the objectives of each and the advantages that differentiate them. Consecutively, the relevance of ports in the development of the competitiveness of global economies in commercial, economic, political and social matters is explained. Finally, the problems found in the three ports during the visit and the explanation of how they affect the efficiency of processes, associated costs and opportunities in foreign markets are presented, thus offering alternatives or suggestions to take into account in order to improve the performance of logistic operations in the ports analyzed.
