Nowadays, companies spend millions on product innovation or advertising, but before investing in this type of activities, they should focus on improving the management of their supply chain with the aim of creating value for the company and seeking customer satisfaction. Currently, all companies have a supply chain, however, only 28% of the companies have automated forecasting and demand planning tools. This is because companies feel that this is not the driving force of their business or that by investing in other factors they will generate more income or profitability. This study conducts a literature review to investigate whether an improvement in the supply chain leads to improvements in an organization’s profitability. With a well-managed supply chain, companies could obtain more benefits and be more profitable than companies that invest in other areas.
