abstract

  • Worldwide, mental disorders are considered a public health issue due to their high prevalence and the increasing economic burden they place on healthcare systems, given the complexity of symptoms, particularly cognitive dysfunctions. Cognitive rehabilitation, in its recovery-focused approach, aims to enhance cognitive functions through conventional exercises but faces challenges in motivating patients and objectively measuring outcomes. Recently, emphasis has been placed on the need to develop innovative, cost-effective alternatives with immediate feedback and progress quantification, with computerized cognitive rehabilitation being the best option. According to this, the purpose of this project was to design and develop a technological application for the cognitive rehabilitation of adolescents with Bulimia Nervosa with the intention of implementing it in future clinical practice. To achieve this, a methodology was divided into 4 phases: the identification of computer-assisted cognitive rehabilitation programs and TRL in mental disorders through a literature review, the development of a technological cognitive rehabilitation application for adolescents with BN, the creation of a clinical protocol outlining the application's usage, and the validation of the technological application with healthcare professionals and its applicability in clinical practice through usability testing. Upon completing all phases, it was concluded that the developed application for the cognitive rehabilitation of adolescents is relevant for implementation in clinical practice, with the importance of reinforcing the processes for storing therapeutic progress variables and considering the development of tests with patients in future research.
