This work focuses on documenting the process of problem definition, design, implementation, and iteration of an innovative solution to address educational challenges in an environment that requires transformation. The problem diagnosis highlights the importance of addressing the gap in English learning, especially in a university context where proficiency in a second language is crucial. Through tools such as interviews, data analysis, and empathy maps, the underlying causes of the problem are identified, including low initial English proficiency and lack of clarity about learning strategies. As part of understanding the problem, the discrepancy between students’ perceptions and the actual figures found in report analyses and databases is recognized, which show a high percentage of students who fail to meet the English requirement due to competency gaps and, especially, difficulties in the use of metacognitive strategies. The need to align students’ perceptions with their language learning efforts to achieve continuity and academic graduation is highlighted. This project then seeks to improve the knowledge and control of metacognitive strategies for English learning, recognizing the importance of this competence for university students. Through an innovative solution that focuses on the implementation and iteration of a pedagogical innovation prototype. It is proposed to implement the Cognos platform, designed as a support tool for students of the Universidad del Rosario who seek to acquire the level of English required by the institution to continue their studies and graduate successfully. The Cognos platform is presented as a web page that offers innovative learning strategies and helps students improve their language skills effectively. This platform as an innovative proposal focuses on its ability to provide students with a personalized learning experience adapted to their individual needs. Not only helping students meet the academic requirements of a second language, but also contributing to their personal and professional development by improving their English communication skills.
