This report summarizes the activities carried out and the experiences gained during the internship at the Life Sciences Room of the Ethics Committee for Research at the Universidad del Rosario (CEI-UR) from April to August 2024. During this period, monthly virtual sessions of the Committee were attended, thematic reviews were conducted, and collaboration took place in the preparation of documents on ethical considerations in Open Science and Article Processing Charges (APC). Additionally, administrative support was provided in updating some administrative documents, such as confidentiality agreements and conflict of interest policies, as well as in creating an informational infographic for publication on the CEI-UR website related to Open Science. Similarly, with the support of the designated tutors for the internship, who are members of the CEI-UR, a pedagogical case analysis titled: Foundations of Civil Liability for Damages Caused in Clinical Trials with Drugs in Humans in Colombia was conducted. This analysis, carried out with a bioethical and legal focus, generally explored the legal and jurisprudential foundations of liability arising from damages caused in clinical trials, addressing, on one hand, the identification of harm, and, on the other, the basis for the obligation to repair, in order to establish the applicable liability regime in both contractual and extracontractual contexts. Finally, based on the experience gained during the internship, the observed strengths, developed skills, and challenges overcome are highlighted, which are analyzed in this report to assess their relevance in the field of bioethics and bioderecho, emphasizing the need to integrate these learnings into healthcare practice. Recommendations for professional development are also presented, with a particular focus on continuous training and the effective application of theacquired knowledge.
