abstract

  • The teaching case focuses on the dilemma faced by a mining company in relation to the violation of human rights of the Wayúu indigenous community in the department of La Guajira, Colombia. The president of the company proposed to undertake inclusive efforts to avoid violating the rights of the indigenous community, as several conflicts had arisen with this group since the settlement of the industry. The teaching case also describes the situation of the Wayúu indigenous community in La Guajira, including the problems that this group faces in terms of access to water, health problems, forced displacement and environmental damage.
