abstract

  • A Look from the Fan Perspective On the dazzling stages of South Korean entertainment companies, a global music phenomenon is emerging that has captivated millions around the world: K-pop. This South Korean music genre encompasses a wide variety of styles, ranging from pop to hip-hop, rap, rock, R&B and electronic music. In fact, the Korea Foundation's (KF) Global Hallyu 2020 reported that K-Pop gathered more than 100 million followers around the world that year. Passionate fans of this music industry have been captivated by a multitude of groups that have debuted over the years. Through a wide range of content, both online and offline, these groups have managed to win the hearts of every fan. This constant exposure has generated an illusion of closeness with their fans' favorite artists, creating a unique and unbreakable connection. A parasocial relationship. Behind every synchronized choreography and every velvety note, parasocial relationships take shape. According to research conducted by the University of Cadiz in 2015, these relationships represent emotional connections that fans forge with artists. In this intriguing territory, the boundaries between reality and passion fade, and stars become confidants of a global audience that has given them their heart and soul.
