  • Introduction: The vascular trauma in our country is common, causing mortality in the population aged 15-44; as the main cause, the penetrating wounds of upper limb lead over the shot guns and lower limbs. In Colombia there are some articles and registers of vascular trauma in civilian population, so this essay is to describe the affected population of Kennedy, as a starting point for analytical studies.Methodology: review of the database of patients undergoing surgery in the hospital of Kennedy, which were extracted those with vascular trauma, collection of variables to study and analyze them.Results: We found 1267 patients who consulted for trauma, of which 32 were regularly associated with vascular trauma, underwent surgery (0.3%), the average age was 24 years, most men (84%); 72% were penetrating wounds, 56% were complex injuries, affecting 41% to the upper extremities; Neck injuries almost match the wounds on inferior limb, with 28%, only one case amputation was presented and no mortalities were presented.Discussion: in Colombia studies are needed about this common disease that although is underestimated , this study is just one step that takes us into the demographics, and some interesting clinical feature compared to the reviewed literature.
