Desarrollo e implementación de una aplicación digital para el apoyo en los procersos de evaluación de desempéño y gestión de mantenimientos de equipos biomédicos en el Hospital San Ignacio

Hospital San Ignacio is a hospital institution founded in 1942, whose service has been aimed at low-income patients, giving them the opportunity to receive quality medical care, continuing with the social work of contributing to the development of the country's health sector. Over the years the hospital has evolved, incorporating new care services and new departments for the organization and logistics of these services. One of the departments is Biomedical Management, in charge of the acquisition, management, monitoring and review of all medical technology within the hospital. Objectives The objective of this project is to develop an application that allows optimizing the performance evaluation processes of biomedical technology and monitoring the execution of the equipment's preventive maintenance schedule. Methodology The development of the project was divided into 4 phases: 1. Identification of the problem 2. Development and implementation, 3. Verification of functionality and 4. Validation. The first phase constituted the investigation of different problems within the biomedical department in order to identify those that can be addressed within an integrative and high-impact project. 2 problems were identified. The second phase constituted the development of the graphical interface in an environment known to the staff, different windows were implemented for data entry within a sequence to solve the first problem. Similarly, a second algorithm was developed to solve the second problem and complete the objective set. The third phase of the project included a series of tests in order to verify the correct operation of the interface and the algorithm, identifying possible errors when executing them and solving them. The last phase gives a response from the biomedical staff towards the development of the project through a survey, this in order to validate different aspects of the implementation. Results Different graphs representing the implementation of the applications, the different windows for data entry and the results of the implementation of the algorithm are presented. The results of the validation survey are also represented by bar graphs. Conclusions The implementation of this project allowed a mechanism to facilitate some activities developed within the department by offering an automation of the processes. In addition, the applications have the relevant security, as well as the freedom to change the values of the associated variables. The evaluation by the biomedical personnel yielded positive results in the 4 aspects evaluated, considering its implementation a success and generating a positive impact on the process.
