abstract

  • Dreams stolen from childhood is a musical theater play in a monologue format that shows us Magnolia Reyes' lecture on the correct parenting guidelines. In the middle of this lecture, Magnolia wanders between her mind and goes to her childhood memories and of his upbringing where he remembers the treatment and coexistence he has had with his mother; she realizing that she did not have the best upbringing, being she a double standard with what she is explaining to the public, demonstrating that her true passion was musical theater and not what she really studied (psychology). At the conference we see how Magnolia is constantly approached by her subconscious and by the voices of her mind which manifest, interrupt her and do not let her address the main topic of her presentation, that is where we discover that Magnolia is not in good health. Mentally stable, she realizes in her speech that in truth her mother always tied her up and hurt her and that she will have to get rid of her, to be able to do what she always loved.
