This teaching case explores the complex situation facing a leading mining company in Colombia, with a specific focus on the persistent pressure and human rights violations affecting the Wayúu indigenous community in La Guajira. Upon assuming the presidency of the company, our decision-maker will endeavor to adopt an inclusive and considerate governance policy, with the aim of rectifying and improving relations with the Wayúu community. This determination is motivated by the escalation of conflicts that have arisen since the establishment of the industry in the region, which further aggravates critical problems such as accessibility to water, poor health conditions, forced displacement and environmental degradation suffered by this indigenous population.
