This literature review is important because it helps us to concretely determine what makes a leader responsible for another who is not, and what the process and development to become one is like. The objective of this research is to analyze the role of responsible leadership within companies, and its impact on stakeholders such as employees, shareholders, board of directors, and the community where they operate. The methodology used for this study is a literature review of both qualitative and quantitative academic articles on the development of responsible leadership and its development, as well as the corporate vision of companies regarding leadership programs in relation to corporate social responsibility. The academic value of this article is becoming increasingly important for the term responsible leader present in curricula, day-to-day debates within universities and large corporations where executives and high ranks are raised in the development of skills and knowledge to become one of them.Several approaches to the concept and definition of responsible leadership development within organizations, responsible leadership roles in medium and large companies and various tools and instruments were found to have a reference framework to measure how responsible a leader is and what psychological attributes and skills should have or begin to cultivate.
