abstract

  • The objective of this paper is to examine the effect that reintegration has over the politicization and understanding of citizenship of former female Farc-Ep fighters that currently live in Bogotá. To fulfill this purpose, I used feminist qualitative methodologies that allowed me, not only to capture the reconfiguration of the participants subjectivities, but to reflect upon power relations and emotions specific to the research practice. Even though there is extensive literature that approaches reintegration as a patriarchy-imposed process, the significance of this study is that it shows how gender becomes a place of enunciation by which citizen claims are framed. Thus, I argue that reproductive work both constraints political participation and is a political act by itself. Likewise, I suggest that despite the burden of labor and care that distinguishes this new period of their lives, female ex-combatants maintain critical awareness.
