The present investigative study, entitled The first female doctors of Del Rosario Univerity: six life stories and their contribution to the medical profession in Colombia (1966-1975), aimed to appreciate and highlight the role played by women in the field of medicine, focusing particularly on the challenges faced by those brave individuals who chose to enter this profession. Their courage not only allowed them to forge their own path but also paved the way for many other women who followed in their footsteps. Thanks to the example and empowerment of these women, according to the Colombian Association of Medical Schools (ASCOFAME), more women than men currently graduate from medical schools across the country. However, this achievement would not have been possible without the admirable efforts of distinguished female doctors such as Silvia Casabianca Zuleta, Ivonne Tayeh Díaz-Granados, Silvia Isaza Restrepo, María Eugenia Gama Rivera, Fanny Pocaterra Hernández, and María Clara Bayón Montaña (may she rest in peace).
