Pedagogía e ideología a través de las caricaturas en torno a la economía petrolera del Semanario Voz Proletaria, órgano oficial del Partido Comunista de Colombia

This article explores how Voz Proletaria cartoons, weekly and official paper from the communist party, contributed to shape the political culture of the time and placed some subjects in the public agenda during the political regime known as « Frente Nacional ». It enquires on how by means of a wide variety of motifs and styles, they claimed on the demands and denounces of organized popular classes. More specifically, this article displays how caricatures criticized with irony the subordinated role and dependence of Colombian governments facing political measures set by The United States. That is, it looks forward into oil policies, as for the degree of autonomy and sovereignty of national states and labor unions in a world of market decisions. Finally, it analyzes how caricatures provided orientative guidelines over political and social situations linked to petroleum economies, such as racial segregation, gangster influence over the legislative branch and the quality of life of popular classes where petroleum companies were stablished.
