Este proyecto busca utilizar las herramientas y recursos obtenidos durante los últimos años en dos áreas de investigación del investigador principal (el diálogo intercultural y los estudios de las relaciones entre ciencia y religión) para explorar las posibilidades y formular los principios teóricos y metodológicos de una hermenéutica intercultural apropiada para el estudio de sistemas y prácticas de conocimiento tradicional en América Latina. Con esto se busca: (1) señalar la importancia de la dimensión epistémica del diálogo intercultural, la cual ha tendido a quedar suspendida en la bibliografía reciente; y (2) introducir el conocimiento tradicional como ámbito de estudio y discusión en el área de “Ciencia y Religión”, cuyo énfasis predominante ha sido el diálogo entre las ciencias naturales y el Cristianismo en el mundo Noratlántico.
This project seeks to use the tools and resources obtained during the last years in two research areas of the principal researcher (intercultural dialogue and studies of the relations between science and religion) to explore the possibilities and formulate the theoretical and methodological principles of an intercultural hermeneutics appropriate for the study of systems and practices of traditional knowledge in Latin America. This is what we are looking for: (1) to point out the importance of the epistemic dimension of intercultural dialogue, which has tended to be suspended in recent bibliography; and (2) to introduce traditional knowledge as a field of study and discussion in the area of "Science and Religion", whose predominant emphasis has been the dialogue between natural sciences and Christianity in the North Atlantic world.
