La propuesta de investigación presentada a esta convocatoria, tiene como finalidad indagar, describir y analizar las prácticas en una muestra de hospitales universitarios en Bogotá DC, respecto al tratamiento de los muestras biológicos y bases de datos personales (que incluyen la recolección, almacenamiento, uso, circulación o supresión) con fines de investigación biomédica.Se pretende determinar si las mismas garantizan los derechos de las personas y/o las comunidades que participan en investigación y contribuyen al cumplimiento, por parte de las instituciones, de estándares internacionales y nacionales que regulan el tema.Lo anterior por cuanto, por un lado no se ha realizado este tipo de indagaciones en Colombia, no se cuenta con datos sobre biobancos y bioreprositorios, ni se tiene una legislación específica para este campo en particular, hasta el momento. Adicionalmente, con la propuesta se pretende fortalecer alianzas estrategias con otras Facultades y Universidades que han trabajado la temática desde diferentes enfoques teórico prácticos.Para este fin, se utilizará una metodología mixta, esto es con enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo, de forma que al cruzar las categorías de análisis podamos determinar si las prácticas estudiadas se ajustan a estándares internacionales y nacionales que ya han regulado la materia.A partir de los hallazgos se propondrán medidas que busquen garantizar la protección de los derechos de las personas involucradas en este tipo de investigaciones biomédicas que requieren tratamiento de muestras biológicas y bases de datos personales.
The purpose of the research proposal presented to this call for proposals is to investigate, describe and analyze practices in a sample of university hospitals in Bogotá DC, with respect to the treatment of biological samples and personal databases (including collection, storage, use, circulation or suppression) for biomedical research purposes.The aim is to determine whether they guarantee the rights of individuals and/or communities participating in research and contribute to the institutions' compliance with international and national standards that regulate the subject.This is because, on the one hand, this type of research has not been carried out in Colombia, there are no data on biobanks and bioreprositories, nor is there any specific legislation for this particular field, so far. In addition, the proposal aims to strengthen strategic alliances with other faculties and universities that have worked on the subject from different theoretical and practical approaches.For this purpose, a mixed methodology will be used, i. e. with a qualitative and quantitative approach, so that when crossing the analysis categories we can determine whether the practices studied conform to international and national standards that have already regulated the matter.Based on the findings, measures will be proposed that seek to guarantee the protection of the rights of those involved in this type of biomedical research that require the treatment of biological samples and personal databases.
