Sexual violence in armed conflict and transitional (criminal) justice: The Colombian case: The Colombian case Chapter

abstract

  • For a long time, criminal justice mechanisms have struggled to adequately address sexual violence in armed conflict. This paper analyses the discussions surrounding persistent impunity gaps and asks whether, and to what extent, transitional justice mechanisms are apt fora to ensure accountability for these particular crimes. It does so by examining the functions of transitional (criminal) justice mechanisms in general and particularly the Colombian experience.
