According to the National Competitiveness Report 2015-2016, which cites the World Economic Forum (WEF),"health - along with education - is one of the 12 pillars that determine a country's competitiveness. (Cordoba, 2016). Therefore, it is necessary to bet on strategies to boost productivity, within the framework of a solid health system, based on the argument that a healthy population is more productive, which translates into greater returns to the productive system and more contributions to the tax system. It also results in lower costs for employers and the health system (Cordoba, 2016).
De acuerdo con el informe nacional de competitividad 2015-2016, en el cual se cita a su vez el Foro Económico Mundial (WEF, por su sigla en inglés), establece que “la salud –junto con la educación– constituye uno de los 12 pilares que determinan la competitividad de un país”. (Córdoba, 2016). Por consiguiente es necesario apostarle a estrategias para impulsar la productividad, en el marco de un sistema de salud sólido, partiendo del argumento que una población saludable es más productiva, lo que se traduce en mayores retornos al sistema productivo y más contribuciones al sistema tributario. Así mismo, genera menos costos para los empleadores y para el sistema de salud (Córdoba, 2016)”.
