Introducción: Las quemaduras de cabeza y cuello requieren atención clínica inmediata ya que las estructuras que allí se encuentran cumplen funciones vitales como la respiración, la deglución y la comunicación. Por lo tanto, se requiere un equipo interdisciplinario para minimizar la discapacidad y, en consecuencia, mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes quemados.El logopeda es el profesional experto encargado de la rehabilitación de la deglución y la comunicación.Objetivo: Identificar en la literatura científica las acciones realizadas por el logopeda en la rehabilitación de pacientes con quemaduras de cabeza y cuello.Metodología: Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica integradora.La búsqueda se realizó en las cinco bases de datos a partir de los descriptores “Speech“, “Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences OR Speech-Language- Hearing Pathology“, “Burns OR Burn“. Se seleccionaron artículos entre 1968 y 2021.Los criterios de inclusión fueron estudios realizados con pacientes con quemaduras de cabeza y cuello, que incluyeran un logopeda, con texto completo disponible en inglés, español y portugués. Se excluyeron los artículos correspondientes a cartas al editor o resúmenes de congresos. Para la interpretación de los datos se utilizó el análisis de contenido deductivo, que permitió sistematizar la información en dos categorías.Resultados: Se encontraron 554 artículos, tras leer el título y el resumen se excluyeron 503 artículos y se identificaron 4 duplicados. Se analizaron 24 artículos, en su mayoría estudios de casos. Se identificó en los diferentes estudios que el logopeda realiza evaluación y rehabilitación miofuncional/orofacial, de la deglución, de la respiración, de la , voz, del habla. y estrategias de comunicación aumentativa/alternativa según las necesidades de cada paciente.Conclusiones: La rehabilitación de la deglución y comunicación favorece la independencia y optimización de la calidad de vida de los pacientes.Aplicabilidad a la práctica clínica: La revisión bibliográfica integradora Siendo el punto de partida para crear un protocolo unificado de evaluación y establecer criterios de intervención basados en la evidencia en la búsqueda de una mayor eficacia y eficiencia en la atención de estos pacientes.
Introduction: Head and neck burns require immediate clinical attention since the structures found there fulfill vital functions such as breathing, swallowing and communication. Hence, it requires an interdisciplinary team to minimize disability and consequently improve the quality of life of burn patients.The speech language pathologist is the professional expert in charge of the rehabilitation of swallowing and communicationObjective: Identify on the scientific literature the actions performed by the speech language pathologist in the rehabilitation of patients with head and neck burns.Methodology: It is an integrative literature review.The search was carried out in the five databases based on the descriptors “Speech“, “Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences OR Speech-Language- Hearing Pathology”, “Burns OR Burn”. Articles between 1968 and 2021 were selected.Inclusion criteria were studies carried out with patients with head and neck burns, which included a speech-language pathologist, with full text available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Articles corresponding to letters to the editor or congress abstracts were excluded. Deductive content analysis was used to interpret the data, which allowed the information to be systematized into two categories.Results: A total of 554 articles were found, after reading the title and abstract 503 articles were excluded, and 4 duplicates were identified. 24 articles were analyzed, mostly case studies. It was identified on the different studies that the speech pathologist performs myofunctional/orofacial, swallowing, breathing, of the , voice, speech evaluation and rehabilitation. and augmentative/alternative communication strategies according to the needs of each patient.Conclusion: The rehabilitation of swallowing and communication favors the independence and optimization of the quality of life of the patients.Applicability to clinical practice: The integrative literature review Being the starting point to create a unified protocol for evaluation and establish evidence-based intervention criteria in the search for greater effectiveness and efficiency in the care of these patients.
