La cúrcuma longa o cúrcuma ha tenido un gran recorrido en la medicina ayurvédica para el tratamiento de afecciones inflamatorias. Está constituida por tres curcuminoides; el principal es la Curcumina (diferuloilmetano), a la cual se le ha atribuido su potencial antiinflamatorio y es la responsable del color amarillo. Soportada por varios estudios, se ha demostrado que es una molécula pleiotrópica capaz de modular múltiples vías de señalización celular. Es conocida por su efectividad como coadyuvante en tratamiento de patologías como la enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal, pancreatitis, artritis, uveítis anterior crónica, y algunos tipos de cáncer. Los otros dos compuestos son Demetoxicurcumina y Bisdemetoxicurcumina.El objetivo de nuestro trabajo es determinar cuál es el efecto de la Cúrcuma Longa como tratamiento coadyuvante en pacientes con diagnóstico de uveítis anterior.De esta manera, se busca lograr un abordaje integral en el tratamiento de enfermedad de gran impacto a nivel mundial.
Turmeric longa or turmeric has had a long history in Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of inflammatory conditions. It is made up of three curcuminoids, the main one being curcumin (diferuloylmethane), which has been attributed with anti-inflammatory potential and is responsible for the yellow colour. Supported by several studies, it has been shown to be a pleiotropic molecule capable of modulating multiple cell signalling pathways. It is known to be effective as an adjuvant in the treatment of pathologies such as inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, arthritis, chronic anterior uveitis, and some types of cancer. The other two compounds are Demethoxycurcumin and Bisdemethoxycurcumin.The aim of our work is to determine the effect of Curcuma Longa as a coadjuvant treatment in patients diagnosed with anterior uveitis.In this way, we aim to achieve a comprehensive approach to the treatment of a disease that has a major impact worldwide.
