One of the challenges faced by humanity in the 21st century is ensuring that development is socially, economically and environmentally sustainable.To that end, we must reconcile development goals and societal wellbeing with the ecological limits of our planet. The complexity of this task entails the great need for carrying out cutting-edge scientific research and educating professionals in the social and ecological aspects of sustainability. The Biology program at the Universidad del Rosario was designed with a pioneering approach that prepares students to propose innovative solutions to these huge local and global challenges. In addition to providing a solid grounding in the biological sciences, we offer an array of unique, multidisciplinary courses that match the interests of each student and the strengths of the Universidad del Rosario. Our flagship courses include Biology of Global Change, Sustainability Science, Socio-Ecological Systems, Ecosystem Services, Ecology and the Evolution of Infectious Diseases and Systems Biology. We also offer courses such as Computer Programming, Environmental Law and Policy, Goegraphical Information Systems and Biotechnological and Molecular Tools.This unique blend of subjects will enable graduates to enjoy a variety of job opportunities and make an active contribution to the construction of a sustainable society
