abstract

  • The purpose of this case study is to analyze the reparation process to victims of the Wayuu indigenous community of Bahía Portete, for the damages caused by the slaughter of april 18 2004, from their own cultural thought about reparation. For this, the different perceptions that exist in the community about the damages suffered by the armed conflict and the conceptions of territory and justice in the Wayuu culture are presented, and the importance to claim these meanings in the process of collective reparation that the Victims Unit is performing with this indigenous for its effectiveness, is analized. The above is based on the fieldwork conducted in La Guajira with Portete’s community and Unit officials, other primary sources like institucional reports, as well as the review of legislation and academic texts of the topic.
