abstract

  • Mexico is one of the most open countries to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the fifteenth largest recipient of FDI in the world. FDI flows to the country fluctuate strongly depending on the entry and exit of large international groups. Large brands and organizations have been successfully established in Mexican lands such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Yakult, and Pelikan among many others, which also implies a need and even an obligation for national companies to renew and implement strategies that allow them to compete and stay strong in the dynamics of the national market. The objective of this study is, mainly, to understand the importance that FDI has for an emerging country like Mexico and to show how it has influenced its economic and social development. From our experience visiting 5 companies in Mexico City, both national and international, we seek to analyze the strategies they have used to settle in a market as dynamic as the Latin American with competitive products and excellent quality, becoming, in turn, Examples of social commitment.
