  • The Line 1 of the Bogotá Metro (PLMB) will have an impact on the city's mobility and its economic, social and environmental dimensions. Transportation literature suggests that this type of project increases the value of land in the area of influence of the investment. In Bogotá, this hypothesis has been confirmed by the effects generated by the Transmilenio (BRT) system. However, this type of investment can also lead to a displacement of the sector's inhabitants, who see their cost of living increase due to the benefits offered by the transportation project and its corresponding capitalization in the increase of land prices or property rents. This study makes a difference-in-differences analysis to determine if the announcement and construction of the Line 1 of the Bogotá Metro has an impact on the residents of the sector, causing them to be displaced. The study uses data from the Multipurpose Survey, which includes economic, social and demographic variables for 2011, 2017 and 2021. The analysis allows concluding that after the intervention there has been a decrease in the number of new residents and rental values in the city, although these phenomena are not attributable to the PMLB.
