The interest of this study case is to analyze the recycling process managed by the Asociación Colombiana de Recicladores Independientes (ACOREIN) in the Unidad de Planeamiento Zonal (UPZ) 74 Engativá, highlighting the relations with the sustainable city perspectives. For this reason, in the first chapter it is analyzed and described the concept of sustainability, sustainable development, and sustainable city, exposing the respective examples. On the second chapter it is described ACOREIN’s labor of recycling, specifically in one of its collection centers located in the UPZ 74, called -El Porvenir-. For this reason it is analyzed the roll of the waste pickers, working cellars, residents, the recycling story, and some other aspects, inside of the recycling chain. The third chapter establishes relations between the sustainable city perspectives and ACOREIN’s experience. The study case finishes with the main conclusions of it.
