  • ABSTRACT: Objective: To describe the costs associated with enteral nutritional support in adult patients hospitalized in intensive care units (ICU),Methodology: The preparation of this document was conducted in an exhaustive search according to specifications and recommendations of the review of literature in MEDLINE, PUBMED, SCIENCE DIRECT, considered by EBSCO databases contain articles recognized by more reliable and more used in academia. I was evident in 70 artículosel compliance with the inclusion criteria, which inthe cost analysis was performed in the management of enteral nutritional support and the importance of nutrition management in adult patients from the ICU was identified.Results: So the importance of enteral nutritional support in its early process cost reduction and resource that can be handled before the critical patient is identified. Within this framework highlights the enteral nutritional support should be the first choice in patients.Conclusion: Enteral nutrition considered a model of nutritional support innovation in recent decades, has evolved contributing a suitable alternative intervention without clinically relevant adverse effects, further improve the quality of life and contribute to making clinical decisions based on evidence and cost analyzes with rational use of resources, likewise, is a cost-effective practice, component cost benefit for the user to improve quality of life, obtaining greater benefits at lower cost.
