abstract

  • Digital platforms have given rise to new employability opportunities in different economic sectors, allowing a broad population mass to access innovative tools for income generation, where applications such as Uber, DiDi, Cabify, Rappi, Airbnb, among others, have provided opportunities for the unemployed population. However, these business models are in a complex position, being in markets where the regulatory frameworks of employability have not been able to adapt to the new labor requirements of independent or self-employed workers who use these digital platforms for the execution of their work activities. Therefore, adverse scenarios have been created for the attention of labor rights, where the inability of these workers to access the social security system stands out. Therefore, this research study will address the labor structure of workers immersed in digital applications, in order to establish considerations on the impact of the risk of disability of self-employed employees of Uber and Rappi on the financial sustainability of the Colombian social security system.
