abstract

  • NATO’s military intervention against Somali piracy is the result of the ‘exportation of domestic anarchy’ using the theory of Subaltern Realism by Mohammed Ayoob as the theoretical basis, as well as the theory of Collective Security by Charles Kupchan and Clifford Kupchan to understand such intervention, both under the Realist paradigm. For its development there were taken into account multiple factors of Somalia and as result there were determined NATO’s motivations to intervene, that is to say, there were given the basis to analyze and understand both the Somali conflict, its exportation and subsequent intervention from a second international actor – the NATO.
