abstract

  • Background: Pancreatoduodenectomy is one of the most complex abdominal surgeries with the highest morbidity and mortality rates. Multiple studies have identified the risk factors for the different associated complications and have shown that the experience of the surgical group is decisive for the results. Methodology: To describe the experience with this procedure and its results in Méderi, a retrospective study is designed, a series of cases of pancreatoduodenectomy performed at the institution between 2013 and 2017. Results: They will describe the demographic, clinical characteristics and the results of the surgical treatment of the PDT series in the defined period. Conclusion: It was possible to identify the main clinical and sociodemographic characteristics of the patients undergoing PDT, describing the main complications (delayed gastric emptying, pancreatic fistula) and postoperative mortality.
