abstract

  • Introduction: Spontaneous abortion is the main complication of the first trimester of pregnancy. Medical management is not always successful, it could rarely be associated with high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality Objective: To describe the outcomes of medical management with misoprostol in the early gestational loss, in two institutions of fourth level: Hospital Universitario Clínica San Rafael and Hospital Universitario Mayor Méderi. Methods: An observational, descriptive, dynamic, retrospective and multicentric cohort study was conducted. All the medical records in two fourth-level institutions between 2015 and 2018, of patients diagnosed with early gestational loss, were reviewed. Sociodemographic, clinical and paraclinical variables were characterized. The sample was characterized by sociodemographic, clinical and paraclinical variables. Descriptive statistics were used, and the probabilities of treatment success or failure were explored. Results: It was found that in the 262 medical records reviewed, the contributory regime predominated with 97.3%. Most of the population belongs to the category of employees, with a partner and with an average age of 29.4 with a standard deviation of 6.8. It was evident that after 10 days of treatment the probability of success of the pharmacological management was from 93% to 95% for the institutions studied. The endometrial thickness variable was related to the decrease. Conclusion: The present study achieved the objective of describing the outcomes of medical management with misoprostol in early gestational loss with a probability of success of pharmacological management greater than 93%.
