abstract

  • This research aims to analyze how the victims of Trujillo´s relatives and his accompanists have initiated and developed the processes of reconstruction of the facts, symbolic reparation and mourning in a scenario where conflict has not ceased. After the slaughter that occurred between 1986 and 1994 in Trujillo, Riofrio, Bolivar (Valle del Cauca) and after the recognition of responsibility by the state in 1995, relatives of the victims decided to join forces and work together to build a historical memory of the violence, despite the threats and harassment after 20 years are still vivid in Trujillo. Now, I´m not only want to talk about the processes of memory and mourning among trujillenses; I also want to show an analytical perspective that can demonstrate beyond the narrative or the rituals, I mean from the body as material evidence of the violence and as symbolic construction, from objects as a shelter of memories and identities, and from art as a means of releasing the pain, approach and avoid violence for a moment the bitter reality that remains over the trujillenses life.
